1. How much does a custom designed, personalized bridal gown cost?
The price range can vary as much as a store bought dress. With a specially designed wedding dress, fabrics and design are essential to give an accurate estimate.
2. How does a custom made wedding dress compare to a store bought one?
With a custom designed wedding dress you get exactly the dress that you want with higher standards of quality workmanship and often better fabric than a store bought one of equivalent value. A custom dress is designed and created to your specifications and measurements, removing the need for the added costs of alterations.
3. Can you make a dress from just a picture?
Yes we can; from one picture or from a combination of pictures. At Tracy Gail’s we have a pattern maker that can draft paper patterns used to create various styles and sizes.
4. How long does it take to custom make a dress and are there extra charges for rush orders?
We usually require 4 – 6 weeks from the time the fabric arrives at the shop. Completing a dress in a shorter period would depend on how busy we are at the time. There are no extra charges if the work can be accomplished during our normal work schedule. If, due to time constraints, there is overtime required by our tailors or dressmakers, then there would be additional charges.
5. Is silk more expensive than satin?
Silk is a fiber, like polyester, rayon, wool and cotton; while satin is a weave like crepe, twill and Dupionni. A satin can be many fibers; silk satin, polyester satin, etc. Crepe can be silk, polyester and wool. Any weave can be made in many fibers and also blends.
With that in mind, silks tend to be more expensive than other fibers but not necessarily by a lot, depending on the weave .
6. What if I lose or gain weight after the dress is ordered?
If you anticipate a weight change, discuss that with your dressmaker. At Tracy Gail’s it may be possible to delay the start of making your dress until you are at your desired weight goals.
7. What is the payment policy?
There is a 50% deposit at the time of fabric order. The balance plus sales tax is due upon completion of the gown. Forms of payment are cash or check only. We do not accept credit cards.
8. Does the final cost of the dress ever exceed the estimate?
At Tracy Gail’s we are flexible and can accommodate certain minor changes at no additional charge. We understand that this is a process and certain changes do come up during the fittings. However, if you wish major design changes then additional charges would apply and would be agreed upon before proceeding.
9. How do we accommodate bridesmaids arriving only a day or two before the wedding or changing shapes due to pregnancy?
We reserve fitting and production time based on your wedding party’s schedules, so they are last minute for the bridesmaids, but planned for our team.
